Google gave the world a sneak peek of its upcoming AR glasses last I/O 2022 in May, and it presented its soon-coming technology that would join the company's lineup and integration. The wearable tech did not have any further information apart from its teaser, but present reports now claim that the AR glasses would receive controls via wireless rings and bracelets.
Instead of a separate remote control, people would receive wearable fashion accessories, but it is not a novel thing in the augmented reality industry anymore.
Google AR Glasses: Rings, Bracelets for Control
9to5 Google reported that speculations behind the controls for the Mountain View giant's Project iris, a.k.a. the AR Glasses venture, would have a different way to access the device.
Instead of what the world is used to for AR and VR devices with its bulky remote controls, the report claims that Google will give it either rings or bracelets for accessing the wearable.
It is also ideal for the AR glasses to have controls from wearable remotes as well, especially as it would help in stowing the device or bringing it to different places, with a seamless way to carry it at all times.
Google acquired North in 2020, and the company is known for its AR glasses that use rings for its control, one speculated to influence Big Tech's design soon.
Insiders claimed that Google wants both rings and wrist wearables to bring control for its AR glasses.
Google AR Glasses: When is it Coming?
Google's AR glasses take have no specific release dates for now, but it is speculated for some time around 2024.
It is unknown what status Google is in now for the AR glasses' development, but speculators claimed that it is under conceptualization and development by the company.
Google and Mixed Reality
Google's focus on its mixed reality ventures is massive, and it centers on different ventures for the company to release soon, with Big Tech not yet confirming anything to the public. Before this year's I/O 2022, Google already saw several talks regarding its AR glasses, a.k.a. Project Iris, with the company providing a teaser of it at the said event.
The internet company's take on wearable technology is expanding, as Google launched its first and latest Pixel Watch earlier this year, expanding on more options in the future.
Still, despite the secrets of its releases, there are several projects from Google that aims to deliver new experiences to the world. These are made possible thanks to the Mountain View company's recent acquisition of a company named Raxium, whose products center on MicroLED and soon help Google with its tech deliverables to the public.
While talks regarding Project Iris were brought up earlier, there is still no concrete information about the device's release date in the coming years, and speculations are still expecting it with a 2024 deadline. Google is not in a rush for its AR glasses release, with the device soon matching up against Apple's upcoming wearable, also releasing in a few years.
