Apple’s Smaller Foldable iPad Might Kill its ‘Mini’ Lineup

Here's what we know so far from the rumored smaller foldable iPad.

Apple's smaller foldable iPad, roughly 10 inches big, might ditch the mini lineup altogether.

Early reports are now suggesting two variations for the rumored foldable iPad, a 20-inch version and a smaller 10-inch variant.

Apple's Smaller Foldable iPad Might Kill its 'Mini' Lineup

As per the latest report by Gizmo China, the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning to release a 10-inch foldable iPad.

As of now, Apple has yet to debut its first-ever foldable device. On the other hand, its close rival Samsung has already introduced four generations of its foldable offerings, namely the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip.

Reports now suggest that Apple is already working to keep up by releasing its own foldable. But instead of a folding phone, the iPhone maker plans a foldable iPad.

One of the iPad foldable offerings is a 10-inch option, which Gizmo China says would replace the Mini lineup.

According to Mac Rumors, the third-generation iPad Mini is on its way to joining the list of obsolete Apple products. In turn, the tech giant would no longer support it for all hardware services.

As the name suggests, the iPad Mini series is the smallest in size. With that, users could comfortably hold them in their hands even though it is a tablet.

It is worth noting that the current version of the iPad Mini flaunts an 8.3-inch display. So the rumored foldable is only slightly bigger. Perhaps it is why Apple is reportedly planning to replace the Mini lineup with its 10-inch folding tablet.

Foldable iPads Are Reportedly in the Works

As per a news story by The Elec, Apple is already working on its 20-inch foldable, according to sources close to the matter.

Once the first iPad foldable sees the light of day, it reportedly rocks a 20.25-inch OLED display. However, when the device is folded like a sandwich it only features a 15.2-inch screen.

Given that, Mac Rumors notes in a separate report that the upcoming foldable outsizes the iPad Pro even when folded. But despite that, its display is smaller than the 16-inch MacBook Pro, at least when closed.

The report from The Elec went on to note that Apple is planning to release its foldable iPad sometime in 2026 or 2027. And as such, some of these early rumored details might still change. So do take these with a grain of salt to avoid getting disappointed.
