Toyota is proud to present its latest take on clean energy vehicles, and it is not featuring batteries to power the car. It is a hydrogen fuel cell that leaves high emissions behind, brought by gasoline use.
The Toyota Corolla Cross Hydrogen Concept was recently unveiled today, featuring the same Gazoo Racing engine from the previous Corolla.
The Corolla Cross H2 Concept is now one of the leading developments towards the use of Hydrogen fuel cells in the industry, one that will allow combustion engines to live on and avoid phase-outs.
Toyota Corolla Cross Hydrogen Concept Unveils to the World
Toyota announced its latest Corolla Cross Hydrogen Concept, and the company calls this its "multi-path approach to zero," featuring a new fuel cell to bring the world a new meaning to clean energy.
What Toyota did was to replace the engine's requirements to burn gasoline fuel, now focusing on hydrogen as its main source.
It still features the famous GR Corolla engine, featuring a turbocharged 3-cylinder, 1.6-liter displacement motor under its hood.
The Japanese carmaker said that it replaced the gasoline fuel cell from the car, and retrofitted the engine to take in hydrogen for its combustion process.

Corolla Cross H2 Concept: Clean Energy, Not from Batteries
According to Toyota's previous release, this new approach to the Corolla Cross is dubbed the Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle (HICEV).
It is not a hybrid that shares a battery-powered and an ICE, but rather a standalone hydrogen fuel cell-powered motor that still goes on the traditional process of fuel and air intake for combustion and mobility.
Hydrogen Fuel Cells for Clean Energy Cars
Toyota may be basking on the glory of being one of the earliest companies to deliver a hydrogen fuel cell adaptation to its engines, but it is also a focus of other manufacturers in the transportation sector. Apart from Toyota, this is also something that BMW focused on since 2015, with different concept cars released to the world, with actual productions yet to arrive.
BMW and Toyota were previously reported to engage in a venture towards developing hydrogen fuel cells for vehicles, soon to arrive for future releases.
While the world is joining hands to eradicate carbon emissions by transforming its transportation technology to a more sustainable focus, not all aims to deliver battery-powered cars like Tesla, Volkswagen, Ford, and more.
General Motors is also in the works for delivering a new clean energy-focused vehicle using hydrogen fuel cells to power its lineup. It aims to deliver this emissions-free focus to its Chevrolet brand, with plans to deliver a van and a medium-duty truck to feature this fuel cell.
One of the reasons why people may prefer hydrogen-based vehicles is because it still features the same engines as gasoline ones but now uses a clean energy fuel cell to power them. The new Toyota Corolla Cross H2 Concept is a good example of that, featuring the famed 3-cylinder GR Corolla engine that retains the "feels" of a car with its roaring experience.
