Nvidia RTX 4080 vs. AMD Radeon Rx 7900 XTX: Upcoming Price Cut, Technical Specs, More

Which graphics card will you get for the holiday season?

As Nvidia and AMD roll out two new benchmark graphics cards this year, here is an overview of their price points.

Nvidia recently released the RTX 4080 on Nov. 16, the successor to its RTX 3080, which still offers a high level of performance among mid-tier options, while the AMD Radeon Rx 7900 XTX will soon launch on the market on Dec. 13, according to Video Gamer.

However, as the Christmas season draws near, tech enthusiasts may need to decide which of the two graphics cards proves more valuable for their gaming rig.

Nvidia RTX 4080 vs. AMD Radeon Rx 7900 XTX Pricing

Among the two tech brands, Nvidia and AMD have always had a big gap when it comes to pricing. AMD is prominently known for offering significantly lower prices for extremely powerful GPUs, but Nvidia is still perceived as being the more expensive option while offering a performance advantage, according to PC Guide.

On Dec. 13, the AMD RX 7900 XT will go on sale at an initial price of $899. On the other hand, the Nvidia RTX 4080 has an initial SRP of $1,199, which is $300 more expensive than the other card. However, considering the technical differences between the two in performance, tech enthusiasts should also consider the upcoming price cut to invest in their gaming rigs.

Dexerto reports that the RTX 4080 will soon receive slight price cuts. Sources revealed that Nvidia may be getting ready to lower the price of its current RTX 40-series graphics cards, given that the MSRP of the RTX 4080 is more pricey in comparison to GPUs from earlier generations.

With AMD revealing their RDNA 3 graphics cards, both of which are priced under $1,000 and are predicted to perform nearly as well as the RTX 4080 in many situations, it is probable that Nvidia is attempting to make the RTX 4080 slightly more accessible to users to compete for the Christmas season.

Nvidia RTX 4080 vs. AMD Radeon Rx 7900 XTX Technical Specs

In most released graphics cards of Nvidia, the tech giant has always surpassed AMD in terms of specs and performance. However, for this year's benchmark GPUs, the gap between the two has significantly gotten closer.

As tech fans have put the two cards head to head with each other, Hardware Times reports that the Radeon RX 7900 XT will be significantly slower than the Nvidia RTX 4080 in terms of performance with the majority of games.

With a significant advantage over the AMD RX 7900 XTX in rasterized games and unrivaled results in ray tracing, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 is still the better graphics card among the two. However, the 7900 XTX will only be slightly slower than the RTX 4090 in a few AMD partner games.
