Apple Releases iOS 16.1.2 Update
As per the latest news story by Mac Rumors, the iPhone maker started rolling out its new software update, the iOS 16.1.2. It fixes a couple of bugs and brings some improvements to its current features.
The new iOS 16.1.2 is now available for eligible iPhone users. Apple released the new update three weeks after it introduced iOS 16.1. The update brought iCloud Shared, Photo Library, Matter, and Live Activities support.
And this time, version 16.1.2 is offering some welcome fixes to iPhone users, including the optimization of the car crash detection feature for iPhone 14.
Car Crash Detection Optimization for iPhone 14 Pro Users
According to the release notes of Apple, the new iOS update offers "important security updates."
But on top of that, the 16.1.2 release also brings "improved compatibility with carriers. Not to mention that it comes with "Crash Detection optimization on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models."
As per the recent report by The Verge, the Car Crash Detection feature on iPhone 14 models had some issues when it debuted. To be more precise, it sometimes activates when its users are riding roller coasters, forcing some users to turn it off instead.
The false trigger is quite alarming as the iPhone 14 feature reaches out to 911 to report that someone needs help. But instead, they are simply on a thrill ride.
The Verge notes in its report that the said function contacts emergency services when it thinks that the iPhone users figures in a car crash.
However, it is worth mentioning that it remains to be seen if the "optimization" addresses these false alarms. Apple only stated that it optimized the Crash Detection feature, but the specifics are still unclear.
Despite that, Mac Rumors suggests that the "optimization" likely involves the mistaken alerts in amusement parks.
