Motorola has finally confirmed that a new flagship phone is coming this Christmas season. The once-rumored Moto X40 handset will debut with a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
If there's one thing that fans hope to see in this smartphone, it's definitely the 60 MP front camera which is perfect for selfie lovers.
Motorola's Moto X40 to Arrive in December
According to Pocket-Lint, Lenovo executive Chen Jin announced on Weibo that the X40 flagship handset would be unveiled in December.
For those wondering why Lenovo is involved here, the company already acquired Motorola, but still, it uses its original branding for its smartphone products.
While Jin confirmed the official release of the Moto X40, he did not go deeper into details about its exact date. According to the previous leaks, it's possible that the smartphone might drop in the first half of the month.
Another verified information from Jin says that the X40 handheld will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The same chipset was also under the radar of the AnTuTu listing.
Since this is already true, we will see better performance for the upcoming Motorola phone since its chip is even better than the Density 9200.
What Might We See on Moto X40?
Per Jin, the Moto X40 phone will be introduced as a highly-durable smartphone that could even surpass a mid-range handset based on today's standards.
It is expected to have an IP68 rating, meaning it can withstand being submerged underwater for quite a long time. It's waterproof enough to remain undamaged even when being soaked.
As far as the leaks are concerned, the Motorola Moto X40 is touted to sport an in-display fingerprint scanner. Another impressive thing that's anticipated to come along is a bigger OLED curved display at 6.7 inches, according to Mashable.

Bigger RAM and Storage
Aside from that, the next-gen phone will boast 512GB storage and 18GB LPDDR5X RAM, which is very massive when compared to the newly-launched models.
When it comes to power, it will carry a 5,000 mAh battery which compliments the 68W fast charging support.
Earlier, we mentioned the 60 MP selfie camera for those who want to engage in talking selfies and video calls. There's another surprise for the fans aside from that. The Moto X40 will have a 12MP telephoto sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50 MP primary camera.
Overall, it will be a great choice if you are looking for a smartphone. The new Motorola handset might be the next present on your list, so watch out for more announcements from Lenovo regarding its official specs and updates.
