If you don't want this to happen to you, then you should thaw first your frozen turkey before dipping it in boiling oil.

Water is dense compared to oil. When you combine both liquids, they don't mix - the oil floats on top of the water.

So when you add water to boiling oil, you hear a popping sound because water will go down to the bottom, picking up the heat until it reaches the boiling point.

Once it reaches the boiling point, water will flash boil causing it to increase in volume several hundred times.

As mentioned earlier, oil doesn't combine with water and stays on top.

Since both compounds are at the boiling point, the oil will go up into the air.

Due to heat, it creates steam and foam vastly, increasing surface area and becoming flammable.

So this is the reason why frozen turkey explodes in the deep fryer.

Frozen Turkey Explosion Videos Are Viral

Since the frozen turkey explosion is dangerous, no wonder the videos of the dangerous scene went viral.

Many users are sharing footage to raise awareness about safety in preparing meals on Thanksgiving, especially on cooking turkey.

Of course, the outcomes are always bad. In the TikTok video posted by armyvetmom2nd, you will see that the frozen turkey caused a huge fire after it was dipped in boiling oil.

Firemen who conducted the demonstration used a rope to tie the turkey before putting it in the deep-fryer.

Despite their distance from the turkey, the flames almost reached them.
