As tech companies continue to announce massive layoffs, Jaguar Land Rover launches a global drive to hire laid-off tech employees.
Big tech companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, HP, and more are starting to lay off a large part of their workforce this year, according to Mashable, leaving employees in the tech sector with limited opportunities.
Recently, social media giants Twitter and Meta have joined in on the layoff spree, with Musk trimming down a huge percentage of employees after his Twitter takeover and Zuckerberg dissolving large divisions such as the 'Responsible Innovation' Team.
Amidst the tech sector trimming staff in a bid to protect profit margins, Tata Motors' Jaguar Land Rover recently launched a global hiring campaign specifically toward laid-off employees to aid their company's digital transformation to become an electric-first business.
Jaguar Land Rover's Global Hiring Campaign
Jaguar Land Rover is a multinational automobile manufacturer prominent for producing luxury vehicles and sport utility vehicles. The company is a subsidiary of Tata Motors. As of writing, the company has six main facilities for research and development, manufacturing, and vehicle assembly, of which five are in the UK and one in India.
According to Jaguar Land Rover's official press release, the company will cater to more than 800 digital and engineering vacancies through its global hiring drive.
"Following the news of large-scale job losses from technology firms, Jaguar Land Rover is opening a new jobs portal for displaced workers from the tech industry to explore career opportunities, offering hybrid working patterns." According to Jaguar Land Rover's press release.
Hindustan Times reports that the vacant roles in their hiring campaign span across divisions like Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Driving, Cloud Software, Data Science, Electrification, Machine Learning, and more.
The positions will be available in different global branches, including the UK, Ireland, China, USA, Hungary, and India.
Jaguar Land Rover to Focus on Electrification
Jaguar Land Rover aims to lead a fast-evolving automotive sector with a focus on electrification, digital services, and data by improving its internal data capability and pool of talent.
Additionally, the electrification efforts come alongside the company's goal to become carbon net zero by 2039. Recently, the company hired a new managing director to oversee the firm's investments into and collaborations with startups working in the mobility space, such as autonomous cars, shared mobility, and electric vehicles, according to UKTN.
"We are further strengthening our data and digital skills base so we can deliver our Reimagine strategy and become an electric-first business from 2025 and achieve carbon net zero by 2039." Jaguar Land Rover stated in their press release.
Jaguar Land Rover is among the many companies joining in on the effort to digitalize their database and production to reduce carbon emissions. Interested members of the tech sector can view the full list of job opportunities at Jaguar Land Rover Careers.
