New Windows 11 Bug Freezes Remote Desktop App
According to XDA Developers' latest report, the new Windows 11 22H2 bug happens when users try to connect the Remote Desktop gateway or the Remote Desktop Connection Broker to other devices.
The issue also occurs when you're accessing a Remote Desktop Service collection or the RemoteApp and Desktop Connections.
Users will receive an error message when the bug becomes active, such as "Configuring remote connection" and "Loading virtual machine."
As of writing, Microsoft hasn't released an official fix to solve the software issue. But, the tech firm provided a workaround; remember, this is not 100% efficient.
- First, access the Group Policy Management Console/Group Policy Editor.
- Then, follow this path; Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Connection Client.
- After that, look for the "Turn off UDP On Client" option and activate it. Just click the "OK" button and restart your Windows computer.
Possible Causes of the Bug
Tech Target reported explained that the remote desktop connection problems are not new. There are various reasons why these issues happen.
These include the following:
- Firewall problems could affect your Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), which can crash the Remote Desktop app.
- DNS issues could also be the main sources of Remote Desktop app crashes.
- If there's a lack of valid communications path, then network failure might be causing your Remote Desktop app to freeze.
