Nintendo Reportedly Issues Refunds: How To Get a Digital Refund for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Is it a Pokémon gone wrong?

Amidst major backlash on the latest Pokémon game, many players demand a refund from Nintendo.

To say that Game Freak's latest Pokémon game has not been doing well in sales may be an understatement. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet currently stand as the worst-reviewed games of the entire Pokemon series, according to Stealth Optional.

However, some fans report that Nintendo may be issuing refunds for disappointed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet owners.

Why Are Fans Disappointed With Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Fans have taken to social media in frustration regarding negative Pokémon Scarlet and Violet reviews. Players have pointed out several in-game bugs and glitches, even going as far as filling the internet with memes of its buggy gameplay.

Meanwhile, other players criticized some of the story elements, such as the "laziness" in creating this generation's elite four, according to Dexerto.

Thus, to save themselves from dissatisfaction, many players are now wondering how to get a digital refund for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to request a digital refund for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Unfortunately, Nintendo is not officially offering refunds for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, however, that may not be the case with every customer.

According to Dot Esports, users in a Reddit thread report that they were able to successfully refund their Pokémon Scarlet and Violet digital purchase by visiting the Nintendo Customer Support page.

To access it on your Nintendo Switch device, players must navigate toward their "Downloads and Digital Content" on the Nintendo eShop and pick "Refunds." This will then prompt a chat with Nintendo customer support, where you will need to explain your complaint and refund request.

Nintendo Allegedly Granted Some Refund Requests

Players should note that there is no guarantee that Nintendo will allow the request. However, some users in the Pokémon subreddit allege that they were able to refund their digital game. Users cautioned that it may be on a case-to-case basis and that being courteous toward the chat support rep may hold merit to getting your request fulfilled.

"Hi there! I bought Pokemon Scarlet last night, and I played for about an hour or two and unfortunately the game runs incredibly poorly." User Sellouthipster wrote to Nintendo customer support. "I don't normally reach out in these instances, but frankly I think would really appreciate a refund as I can't see myself enjoying playing this in its current state. Would that be at all possible?"

However, only a few users reported that their request for a refund was granted, while some were stuck with their disappointment and game copy. Additionally, players should also remember that Nintendo is currently dealing with loads of refund requests, so the chances may prove more unlikely, but it may still be worth a shot.
