Canadian police seized a person named Yuesheng Wang, employed under Canada's Hydro-Quebec, who allegedly sent trade secrets to Chinese universities and research centers. The case started in August as a formal complaint was charged against Wang, with Hydro-Quebec's corporate security raising the concern to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Hydro-Quebec Employee Allegedly Spying for China, Sending Trade Secrets
According to the South China Morning Post's report, Yuesheng Wang, 35, is now facing charges against an alleged espionage case, one where the Hydro-Quebec employee obtained trade secrets from the company. The suspect allegedly used his position to send information over to Chinese universities and research centers to publish patents and advancements in technology.
The RCMP already flagged the former employee for his role in said espionage last August and continued to monitor his actions which allegedly betray his employment conditions.
Wang's action furthered research and development over at the People's Republic of China instead with Canada and Hydro-Quebec, says RCMP Inspector David Beaudoin.

China Spies in the Modern World
The world has been careful about China's presence in the technological space, especially with its capabilities to spy on different platforms and companies, gaining insider secrets or information regarding different nations. One of the most alarming cases was Chinese spies using Zoom to spy on Americans, and it was a dangerous precedent for the Asian country to be in.
Additionally, there are other cases regarding China's espionage towards superpowered countries like the United States, with the country being wary of different tactics used in the present.
One massive case centers on TikTok, particularly with its parent company, ByteDance having access to US user data which became a massive case against the company. Initially, the deal to let TikTok operate continuously in the country is to transfer its operations over to Oracle, the company which acquired its rights to operate in America, Canada, Australia, and more.
Spying is a massive crime even in the modern world, and it centers on leaking different information to others, and it remains to be a problem in the present, with many entities trying to get ahead of each other. The Canadian police and company will investigate this case and determine if Wang is indeed leaking information to China.
