It turns out Steve Jobs wore Birkenstocks when he founded Apple in a garage.

Steve Jobs co-founded Apple, which is now one of the largest tech firms widely known for its iPhones and Macs, in a garage wearing a pair of worn-out Birkenstock sandals.

Decades after the ex-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the iPhone maker founded the renowned tech giant, his old sandals have been sold for more than a cool $200,000.

The latest auction sets a new record, making it the most expensive sandal that has ever been auctioned. Well, even if it is all worn out, it is not any ordinary second-hand footwear.

It is the Birks that the Apple co-founder had on his feet while he was brewing what turned out to be one of the most prominent firms in the 21st century.

Steve Jobs's Birkenstocks When He Founded Apple Fetches for More Than $200,000

As per the latest news story by Business Insider, the Birkenstock sandals of Jobs have recently been auctioned, fetching an astronomical price tag of over $200,000.

The news outlet notes that the cork sandals of the late Apple co-founder are part of the recent three-day auction, Icons, and Idols: Rock N Roll, at the private auction house Julien's Auctions.

A recent report from Fortune revealed that the organizers of the auction predicted that the old sandals are likely to fetch as high as $60,000. However, that price turns out to be a conservative estimate of its value.

Far from the $60,000 prediction, someone spent $218,750 to get their hands on the Birkenstocks of Jobs.

Business Insider notes in its report that the late Apple boss is actually a minimalist, which reflects in the product offerings of the tech giant during his reign.

One of his "few" possessions is a practical pair of cork sandals, which have been worn out after prolonged usage.

Julien's Auctions points out that the Birks of Jobs features "the imprint of Steve Jobs' feet, which had been shaped after years of use."

Although the cork sandals are "well used," the private auction house assures it "still appears intact."

CNN reports that the cork sandals have been part of the wardrobe of the Apple co-founder between the 1970s and 80s.
