The Cupertino giant is finally entering a new age that will step into the world of mixed reality, centering on a wearable device that will bring new experiences to the public.
Apple AR/VR Headset: What to Expect on the Wearable?
There are many talks regarding the list of massive expectations on Apple for its January release of the much-awaited AR/VR headset, a.k.a. its mixed-reality device. According to Ars Technica, the device may either be called the "Reality One" or "Reality Pro" headset as its official launch name, bringing the company's first take on a mixed-reality headset.
The Apple AR/VR headset will have a price from as much as $2,000 to $3,000, and it is intended for the use of developers and professionals in the field. Once it releases with these prices, it will be one of the most expensive in the industry.
The speculation came from the famous Apple insider and leaker, Mark Gurman via Bloomberg's Power On newsletter, who said that job listings first indicated that it will be ready soon.
Apple AR/VR Headset is Coming by January
January is the speculated date from another famed Apple insider, Ming-Chi Kuo-or it could arrive later in 2023, as there are no official confirmations regarding the device's launch, with Gurman only noting that it is arriving next year.
The device will bring along a dedicated operating system called the realityOS, which Gurman's report said is already finalizing at the moment.
Apple's Mixed Reality Headset
According to a previous report, Apple is finalizing the OS intended for the mixed-reality headset that will soon deliver both the hardware and software of the device for all to use. It centers on the information from Bloomberg's Power On Newsletter that brought the speculation of the device for next year but focuses more on the professionals in the field.
A past report also claimed that the Apple wearable device is already done with its production tests, and is on the verge of coming together for a possible release.
It will be unlike the Meta Quest's device lineup available to the public, particularly with what it brings to the table, as Apple aims to focus on a mixed-reality headset instead of only one. Meta's Quest is famous for a virtual reality experience only, centering on its screens and display to bring what people paid for to see, like various games and experiences.
The job listings center on the new features that the device will bring for all, also, with its possible opportunities for all developers who will get a chance to develop XR experiences with the device. The speculation regarding its January drop is not yet confirmed, but reports claim that there is a good chance that it is coming in hot next year.
