However, an article by The Information shares how other possible moves are at least four years away. The rumors come party from a trio of former Google search engineers who have left Apple and decided to return to the company.

The Engineers Previously Joined Apple After It Acquired Laserlike in 2018

The article notes that the departure of the engineers was a potential blow to Apple's chance to compete head-on with Apple regarding the search browser. The engineers reportedly joined Apple when it acquired Laserlike back in 2018, as per Venture Beat.

Laserlike is a machine learning startup designed to help search the web for news, sites, and videos specifically designed to cater to the users' tastes. The report by The Information notes that the three engineers were founders of the company, Srinivasan Venkatachary, Anand Shukla, and Steven Baker.

Rumors Say Apple Could Release Its Search Engine After at Least Four Years

The three have reportedly returned to Google. To be clear, there was no specific mention that Apple already has a dedicated web search engine within its many plans. The source of The Information shared that there could be one, but it might be introduced sometime soon.

The article believes it could take Apple at least four years to counter Google before it announces its search engine. The Information noted that the information came from someone involved with the team.
