United States Senator Ed Markey posted a tweet containing a warning against Elon Musk and Twitter, centering on fixing the short word social media regarding a fake account made that was verified by the company. Sen. Markey clapped back at Musk's snarky comment regarding his account, saying that "Fix your companies. Or Congress will."
Musk's recent comment picked a bone against the US senator who pleaded to the CEO regarding various fake accounts which get blue checkmarks on Twitter, under the new $8 monthly subscription.
Ed Markey Warns Elon Musk, Twitter on Platform
Senator Ed Markey raised a concern with Elon Musk and Twitter, claiming that a Washinton Post reporter was able to make a verified account using his name and likeness on the platform.
However, the tech CEO reacted differently, and instead of addressing the concern regarding the verified parody or fake account, Musk made fun of him by saying his real account looks like a parody.
Senator Markey did not take this lightly and quoted the tweet with a warning to Twitter and the Chief Twit of the platform, centering on a call to fix it.
The US government official said that Musk should fix his companies, or Congress will do it for them, something that would focus on a massive case against Twitter.

Fake Accounts Proliferating on Twitter?
Fake accounts are indeed proliferating on the platform and took advantage of Musk's latest subscription requirement for the public, under his income-generating focus with the $8 subscription. The initiative sort of backfired on Elon Musk as well, as there were many parody accounts made under his name with the verified blue check, something which bothered him in the past.
Elon Musk and Twitter
Twitter is experiencing a wave of fake accounts on the platform now, and it is because of Elon Musk's latest focus on the platform which centers on a subscription-based verification system for the public. Anyone may have their profiles verified, and it would not matter if they are a celebrity, content creator, government official, or a simple person who wants their Twitter persona to have the blue checkmark.
As long as they paid for Musk's requirement for verification and avail of the $8 monthly subscription, their profiles may show the verified tick that has been a symbol status before.
There was a massive outburst from the public regarding this, especially those verified users who do not need to pay anything on Twitter to get verification in the past.
However, Musk's focus is "power to the people," and made verification available for everyone who wishes to highlight their profiles despite being parodies or fake ones with the blue checkmark.
It is chaos now on Twitter, as parody accounts who pose as their impersonated characters appear with the verification from the subscription, something which centers on more scammers on the platform. With no distinct way to segregate the real one from the fake, it is up for another revamp for the platform, something which Senator Ed Markey pushes against Elon Musk.
