EON Aerospace and other companies are developing supersonic passenger planes, according to Gizmodo.
EON plans to develop a passenger plane that has speeds as high as Mach 1.9, which aims to launch in 2029. The plane is referred to as the NXT-01 and will feature a low-boom design that would not generate a sonic boom to enable it to fly over populated areas at supersonic speeds.
In addition, the company states that the NXT-01 will feature the "world's first ever safe-landing mechanism" and they are exploring bladeless technology-if successful, it will be another world-first.
Spike Aerospace
Another startup that plans to bring supersonic passenger planes is Spike Aerospace that will also create a low-boom plane with private-jet amenities with supersonic speed. Similar to EON Aerospace, it aims to launch its aircraft in 2029.
The S-512 is said to offer a "proprietary Quiet Supersonic Flight Technology" that will allow it to cruise at Mach 16. However, the company didn't discuss how it works on its blogs. Apparently, the company flew a small-scale subsonic test craft in late 2017 and completed it by 2022.

Exosonic
Exosonic is developing a supersonic military drone first, while its supersonic passenger jet concept is also to be a low-boom design capable of Mach 1.9. In fact, the startup also partnered with the US Air Force's Presidential and Executive Airlift Directorate to adapt the supersonic jet for Air Force One. They haven't published a release date on their promotional materials yet but indicated that 2029 will be the earliest potential date. Furthermore, the company was honest to say that the supersonic jet isn't their main focus currently.
Instead, they are emphasizing their supersonic drone program that already received government funding.
The Rise of Supersonic Passenger Planes
If supersonic passenger planes make a comeback, it will definitely be a trend that's better than a comeback of old TV shows. In fact, supersonic flight has a credible resurgence with companies focusing on a new way to travel that is better than business class or first class.
Not to mention, these startups have actually attracted a lot of attention from reputable institutional investors.
Overall, supersonic passenger planes will make traveling a more enjoyable experience in the next decade. And if these companies could deliver on their promises, we'll see the first supersonic jets being launched in the next 10-20 years.
As the world prepares for the future of travel, it is bound to be an exciting ride with the upcoming supersonic passenger planes.
Many people are looking forward to it because, as mentioned, supersonic passenger planes are much faster than business or first class flights. And many are choosing to invest in these companies because of the potential growth that is expected.
However, some of the startups are still in the developing stage and are yet to prove that they could deliver on their promises. If you think about it, the future of supersonic passenger planes is going to be a huge market that could disrupt the aviation industry. Therefore, it is worth investing on these companies and keep tabs on them until they are able to launch the first aircraft.
