This year marks the fifth season in OWL history and consists of twenty teams competing for a prize pool of $1.5 million.
In a recent tweet by the Overwatch official Twitter, Activision Blizzard will be giving a sneak peek of the game's upcoming hero to their character roster during this year's Overwatch League Grand Finals.
How to Watch the 2022 Overwatch League Grand Finals
As the biggest OWL event finally reaches its end, fans will witness the Dallas Fuel come through following their three consecutive wins over competitors Hangzhou Spark, Seoul Dynasty, and Houston Outlaws. However, the fight is not over yet for the latter teams as they are still set to compete with San Francisco Shock in the Losers Final.
The grand finals will be taking place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Overwatch 2 fans can also watch the live stream of the Overwatch League Grand Finals on their official Youtube on Nov. 4, with a live stream for the event set to start at 7:00 p.m., according to DBLTAP.
Fans can also expect an interview with Overwatch 2 developers Alec Dawson and Dion Rogers during the grand finals live-stream event.
What to Expect for Overwatch 2 Season 2's New Hero and Update
The new hero is set to be released in Overwatch 2's second season on Dec. 6. According to Dexerto, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller accidentally spilled the details of the new hero in a stream.
"It's someone that players have seen before," Keller said of the upcoming hero. "And the other thing we're putting out in Season 2 is a new map. And I think, the new hero, he's connected to this map."
Players analyzed Keller's words, connecting that the upcoming hero would be a male character and that he would have a connection to the new map that will also be arriving in the second season of Overwatch 2.
Popular guesses among fans include Mauga, first introduced in Overwatch's story lore, 'What You Left Behind,' released in 2019. According to Gamespot, Mauga will most likely be a hero who plays a tank role as a soldier of Talon's heavy assault.
Kotaku also reports that the next patch will include a balance patch for certain characters, including Genji, Zarya, D.Va, Sombra, and Kiriko. Additionally, prior to the character nerfs, Mei has been temporarily removed from the game due to a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allowed players to "reach unintended locations." Fortunately for Mei mains, the hero will return to the game's roster during the next patch on Nov. 15.
