Dota 2 E-sports Team OG Announces ATF's Departure From Active Lineup

OG removes ATF from their Dota 2 active lineup and fans speculate his next big move in the e-sports scene.

E-sports team OG has officially announced that their offlane player Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf will no longer be a part of their Dota 2 active roster.

OG, originally known as Monkey Business, was founded in August 2015 by former Team Secret players Tal Aizik and Johan Sundstein. Their team went on to create a mark in the world of e-sports as the first team in Dota 2 history to win four major championships. In August 2019, OG made history as the first team to win more than one "The International" Dota 2 tournament in 2018 and 2019, making them the first back-to-back TI winners in the history of Dota 2.

As of now, OG has teams who play professionally for the multiplayer online battle arena game, Dota 2, and the tactical first-person shooter game, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

On November 3, OG took to their official Twitter to announce their roster update, as Dota 2 player Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf has been added to their inactive roster to explore other options for the next game season.

ATF Surrounded by Rumors on Next Big Move in E-sports Scene

However, as OG only mentioned that their former player would be exploring other options, the possibility of ATF playing a different role for another team is still entirely plausible.

According to Dot Esports, the 17-year-old pro player was repeatedly spotted using Slark on Dota 2 ranked matches, a hero best played as a safe-lane carry. A player who viewed his previous match history attests that his in-game name was "carry player," and that he has been playing even more carry games as of late.

Additionally, sources allege that ATF has received several offers from other e-sports teams following OG's announcement. However, it is currently unknown what led to the decision to take ATF out of OG's Dota 2 roster, as no representatives from OG or ATF have given any comment on the speculations regarding ATF's next big career move.

ATF's History in the 'Dota 2' E-sports Scene Before OG

At the age of 15 years old, Al-Assaf first entered the e-sports scene during season one of the Europe DPC Lower Division under the Creepwave e-sports team, where he made a name for himself as one of the youngest players in DPC history.

In 2021, ATF made his debut on the OG team in an entirely new roster alongside Artem "Yuragi" Golubiev, Bozhidar "bzm" Bogdanov, Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf, Tommy "Taiga" Le, and Mikhail "Misha" Agatov, who had initially served as one of OG's e-sports coaches.

According to Gosu Gamers, ATF gained popularity from his skills in Dota 2, with an Elo rating of 1,255 and a win rate of 61% that has landed him 7th on the world rank during his time on OG. His most successful heroes used include Timbersaw and Razor, while his most played hero is Mars. As of now, ATF's success as a professional Dota 2 player has garnered his total earnings of $296,284 from his e-sports career alone.
