It is designed to minimize the need for node operations. With this new node engine, Google will be the one responsible for monitoring node activity.

The tech firm is also the one restarting these node operations during outages. But, the Cloud Blockchain Node Engine is limited to Ethereum nodes.

This means that it can only accommodate Ethereum-based projects.

Thanks to Google's innovation, Web3 developers can have fully-managed Ethereum nodes with secure blockchain access.

As of writing, Google hasn't announced if it will support other cryptocurrency projects.

How Web3 Developers Can Benefit From It?

Google explained that the new Cloud Blockchain Node Engine can benefit lots of Web3 organizations and individual developers.

Among the benefits, it can offer are the following:

  • Customers can have security configurations that can help prevent unauthorized access to the nodes. The Cloud Blockchain Node Engine will put nodes behind a Virtual Private Cloud firewall.
  • The new Cloud Blockchain Node Engine can reduce the time needed to sync a full node from the first block. This process usually takes days. But, with Google's new software, this will be reduced drastically.
  • Google's Cloud Blockchain Node Engine ensures that the needed blockchain infrastructure is always ready and available. This means that an on-hand, DevOps team is no longer needed to handle your nodes.
