Apple has stopped showing gambling ads in its App Store, the official app marketplace for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users.
The latest move of the Cupertino-based tech giant comes after app developers and users have started complaining about the sudden appearance of gambling-related apps.
Apple Gambling Ads Has Been Removed from the App Store
As per the latest news story by Mac Rumors, Apple has confirmed that it has already paused showing gambling ads in the App Store.
The announcement from Apple comes shortly after well-known app developers raised their concerns regarding the ads promoting gambling apps.
App Store Devs Complain Against Gambling Ads
For instance, the prominent developer, Marco Arment, took to Twitter to say that he is not "OK" with seeing gambling ads on his App Store listing.
He tweets that his "app's product page shows gambling ads, which I'm really not OK with." He further adds "Apple shouldn't be OK with it, either."
Meanwhile, another app developer, who goes by the name Cabel on Twitter, says that "it is really sad" to see gambling ads on the App Store.
He went on to reminisce about the days when Steve Jobs still led the iPhone maker.
Back when Apple debuted its App Store ads, its late co-founder assured its customers that "these ads [are not] garbage." Jobs also states that [you will] like these ads."
According to a recent report by Apple Insider, after the rapid backlash from app developers themselves, the renowned tech giant quickly responded. It has now halted showing gambling ads in its App Store.
A spokesperson from the Cupertino firm says that "we have paused ads related to gambling and a few other categories on App Store product pages."
However, it is worth noting that Apple did not further explain why it has paused showing these gambling-related promotions. On top of that, the tech behemoth also failed to disclose which "few other categories" have been paused, as well.
And what's more, it looks like the Cupertino giant will not stop dishing out these kinds of ads. The phone maker specifically announced that it has only been paused.
