Rivian is no longer offering the R1T's Camp Kitchen feature as the electric vehicle (EV) maker discontinues it.
The all-electric carmaker told its existing customers that the Camp Kitchen option for its R1T electric truck is no longer available.
But it turns out that it would only be discontinued temporarily.
Rivian RT1 Camp Kitchen Has Been Discontinued
As per the latest news story by Inside EVs, the all-electric automaker confirmed to its customers that the production of its R1T Camp Kitchen would temporarily be put on hold. It means that the EV maker would no longer offer its popular Camp Kitchen feature in the meantime.
Rivian reportedly reached out to its existing reservation holders to give them a heads-up that the production of the Camp Kitchen would be on a break.
A Reddit user shared a copy of the email, which carries the subject "an update on your Adventure Gear preorder." It notes that Rivian is "temporarily pausing production of the Camp Kitchen."
The email further adds that the Camp Kitchen option would be automatically removed from the preorder list of their R1T customers. The EV maker notes that it should ensure they would no longer be charged for a feature that is no longer available.
Why is Rivian Halting Camp Kitchen Production
According to a recent report by Teslarati, the EV startup confirmed to its customers that it has decided to redesign the Camp Kitchen feature.
Rivian notes in its email to reservation holders that the decision came after testing it out for quite a while. The production halt should welcome a few refinements. However, it remains to be seen what the new version offers as the EV maker kept mum about its details.
Apart from the $5,000 Camp Kitchen option, the all-electric carmaker is giving its Gear Tunnel Shuttle a revamp, as well.

Camp Kitchen
Teslarati notes in its report that Rivian introduced the Camp Kitchen accessory to its R1T electric pickup truck last November 2021.
Back when it debuted, it flaunts a removable kitchen sink, a water tank, and a two-burner induction cooktop.
However, given that the entire module is getting a redesign anytime soon, Rivian might update its specifications along the way.
