Tooling for Cybertruck
Before it begins production in mid-2023, Review Geek reported that Tesla is in the final preparations for Cybertruck, as they begin the phase for tooling the vehicle. This phase is also conducted for the machines and production lines for it to manufacture.
The Cybertruck will be produced at Giga Texas based on the announcement during Tesla's Q3 earnings call. This announcement from the company was delighted by many of its fans and customers as the production has been delayed several times. The delays were not only caused by economic issues but also to supply chain challenges.
Despite it being produced in Giga Texas, Not a Tesla App reported that the company will be manufacturing its battery packs at the Fremont factory. As per the report, Giga Texas is not ready to mass produce battery cells and cell pack manufacturing, which is why it was moved to Fremont.
Although Giga Texas is part of Tesla's application to be a manufacturer of batteries and cathode. The only problem is that despite the construction already starting, the factory may still not be ready when Cybertrucks started its production.
The same report also revealed that IDRA's new Giga Press will be used for the Cybertruck. This has a clamping force of 9,000 tons and is comprised of 54 pieces. Approximately, it weighs 170,995 pounds. It is expected to come to Austin, Texas as it already arrived in Houston only last week.
Tesla has been getting its supply from IDRA Group for quite some time now. It provides the company with giant manufacturing machines weighing 6,000 tons. Through these, Tesla was able to manufacture single pieces for Model Y. For the Cybertruck, a 9,000-ton Giga Press will soon be received at Giga Texas to manufacture the Cybertruck.
Prototype Closely Spotted
In February this year, the company was spotted working with a new prototype for Cybertruck, which was taken through a drone shot at the Fremont factory, as reported by Electrek. During these times, fans and customers were really expecting an update on the production of this vehicle as it was delayed several times.
The statement from the company that it will be produced "hopefully" in 2023 was also questioned by people as Telsa tends to be unsure about the vehicle's situation during that time. Looking back on it, the company has been improving on giving detailed updates.
