The clock has finally struck midnight, and Swifties are taking over Spotify to stream Taylor Swift's newest album, "Midnights", which was released on Friday, Oct. 21.
The singer-songwriter's tenth studio album clearly stoked fans all over the world as they flocked to numerous streaming sites such as YouTube, Apple Music, and of course, Spotify. The latter app experienced overwhelming traffic upon the album's immediate release, and thousands of users reported outages worldwide.
Midnight Fever
According to a report by Bloomberg, global monitoring service Downdetector said at 1:10 a.m. in New York that as many as 7,844 outages were recorded after Spotify published a tweet about the popstar's new album.
However, it is worth noting that the crash only occurred momentarily as millions of fans around the world continued to stream the album's 13 tracks. This includes Lavender Haze, Maroon, Anti-Hero, Snow on The Beach, You're On Your Own Kid, Midnight Rain, Question... ?, Vigilante Shit, Bejeweled, Labyrinth, Karma, Sweet Nothing, and Mastermind.
Midnight's first music video will be "Anti-Hero," which will be released at 8:00 a.m. (EDT), Friday, Oct. 21.
However, the midnight fever does not stop there as Swift seemingly wants to keep her fans awake all night after adding seven more songs to her 13-track album. In an Instagram post, Swift calls these new additions "3 am tracks."
"Lately I've been loving the feeling of sharing more of our creative process with you, like we do with From The Vault tracks. So it's 3am and I'm giving them to you now," the 11-time Grammy Award-winning artist wrote in an Instagram caption.
The new tracks include The Great War, Bigger Than The Whole Sky, Paris, High Infidelity, Glitch, Would've, Could've, Should've, and Dear Reader.

Midnights Mayhem
Swift announced her new album last month during the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, where she won the "Video of the Year" award for her short film "All Too Well." Since then, the pop star has been hyping her fans in TikTok with her mini-series "Midnights Mayhem With Me," where she would reveal the title of every Midnights track.
The Guardian praised Midnights, saying that it is a "cool, collected and mature" album that is "packed with fantastic songs."
However, the Evening Standard said there is "not a smash hit in sight," criticizing the album for its supposed lack of radio hits.
Swift is still re-recording some of her early tracks due to a conflict with music mogul Scooter Braun, but she has put that project on hold in order to produce a brand-new album of original music.
The 32-year-third old's studio album is her first original album in two years. It marks her return to working with pop sounds compared to the more subdued acoustic of her two previous albums, Folklore and Evermore.
