Elon Musk revealed that there will be an upgraded version of the Tesla Summon coming soon to Model Y users in the world, and this time it will be known as the Tesla "Smart Summon." The new feature is part of the vehicle's self-driving feature that would allow users to command the vehicle to start and drive to their location via GPS.
Despite the advancement of the feature from Tesla, it is about to get enhancements that would elevate Summon's experience for EV owners.
Tesla to Debut Smart Summon, Says Elon Musk
Tesla fans are calling the Summon feature of the electric vehicle a "life hack," particularly with the many nifty functions it delivers to users for whatever they need the car for when calling it. One example would be when it is already parked in the garage and users have to take out the groceries, it can be called upon to deliver these closer instead of walking all the way.
Despite these advanced features, Elon Musk said that the Smart Summon feature is "almost done," and it is the upgraded version of the Tesla Summon that elevates the experience.
The Tesla team was developing an upgrade for the Tesla Summon, and it was not that boasted by Musk or the team for a long time, with the feature still coming for all Summon users soon.
Summon is Getting an Upgrade, New Features
Tesla's Smart Summon is an upgrade to what users have now, and this new feature will deliver a new experience for all. What it does is that instead of going to the smartphone user's GPS location when calling for the EV, Smart Summon allows users to choose certain locations and pin them on the map for the car to head to upon command.
Tesla and its Autonomous Driving System
Tesla is famous for delivering advanced features for clean energy cars with its releases that come stock when purchasing EVs, then upgrades the system via over-the-air updates or with its dealerships. Back in AI Day 2022, the company revealed the latest advancements for its software that uses artificial intelligence alongside its Optimus bot.
Autonomous driving systems are also Tesla's main bread and butter for their EVs, delivering a new experience that does not need human intervention.
Some of Tesla's autonomous driving systems include the Autopilot, Full-Self Driving Beta, and the famous Tesla Summon feature. The Summon brings help to those who want their vehicle out of the garage or runway and ready for the road to drive or waiting for them by the curbside as they go out, with only their smartphones to control it.
Soon, the Smart Summon would bring an upgrade to the feature, particularly one that allows people to call upon their EVs and choose the location of where they want it to be. Before, the Summon can only go to the smartphone user's GPS location and arrive where they are, but now, it would proceed to where they want it to be.
