How long should you really shower? This question has been bugging many people for the past years.
Aside from helping you save on water bills, knowing the ideal shower time can also benefit you since you no longer have to overstay in the bathroom when going to work or school.
However, it is also quite difficult to track your time once you start showering. Spending around 15 minutes will just feel like showering for five minutes.
Now, this would be a little easy if you really know the ideal time to spend when taking a shower.
How Long Should You Shower? Here's the Ideal Time
According to CNET's latest report, the ideal time to take a shower is between five to 10 minutes.
If you want to make sure that you are not overdoing it, the best thing you can do is stick to five minutes.
EPA (Environment Protection Agency) explained that one showerhead commonly uses around 2.5 gallons of water per minute.
If you will only spend five minutes, then around 12 gallons of water would be used for one shower. Doing it for 10 minutes will consume 25 gallons of water.
If you will check their difference, the water consumption of a five-minute shower is very low compared to a 10-minute shower.
EPA's Shower Tips
EPA provided some tips you can rely on during shower time. These suggestions can further help you save on your monthly water bills.
- Always ensure that your showerhead is replaced regularly. EPA said that changing your showerhead and taking shorter showers will save a lot of water.
- Instead of hot showers, try taking cold ones. Since you will not be using your heating system, you can save on both electricity and water bills.
- Avoid letting your shower water run before you enter the bathroom. This habit is quite common for some people as they tend to get the desired temperature before showering.
Aside from these, Today also provided other tips you can follow:
- Always start showering from your head to your lower body part.
- Focus on the dirtiest areas
- Don't wash your hair too much
- Don't shower too often
- If you shave while showering, always ensure that you're going to do it last.
