Overwatch 2, a recently-released game by Blizzard Entertainment, has been dubbed the "most disappointing" game of 2022 by the YouTube content creator, Videogamedunkey.
Even though Overwatch 2 had a big launch week and was one of the most anticipated games for a considerable amount of time, the game was plagued with problems from its first release.
Overwatch 2 Was Released With Tons of Issues
A DDoS attack (Distributed Denial of Service attack) occurred in the game as soon as it was made available, which blocked players from signing in.
At first, Blizzard believed that the server issues were caused only by the increased number of players participating in the game. It had been determined, however, that this was not the case; the root of the problem was a massive cyberattack that was waiting to be discovered.
Even after that issue was fixed, the game continued to have server difficulties that resulted in lengthy wait times and even kicked players out of the game. The situation was made much more difficult by the presence of glitches.
Before the launch, Blizzard also announced a contentious update requiring users to provide and link an active mobile phone number to their account to play the game. It resulted in a backlash that even though its purpose was to reduce toxic gamers and cheaters, it was also locking out some avid players as it was not accepting pre-paid, landline, and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) numbers.
Days after the release date, an update was made again, stating that players no longer need a mobile phone number when signing in if the account was made after June 9, 2021.
It Is Hardly a True Sequel
YouTuber Videogamedunkey, aka Dunkey, agreed and pointed out that Overwatch 2 is not only more of the previous game but is really worse in several instances, ComicBook.com reported.
He drew attention to the fact that the game has progressed in a retrograde direction, particularly about some characters' capabilities and overall performance.
Given that Dunkey has been playing Overwatch for some time, it is fascinating to see how he thinks about the controversial modifications to the game and the areas in which the game is entirely missing.
Still, generally speaking, Overwatch 2 is being reviewed fairly favorably, although it has its naysayers. It is significantly less of an actual sequel than it is, merely an improved, updated version of the previous game.
ComicBook.com's Rate
ComicBook.com rated the game four out of five stars and had positive feelings about it overall, although it did mention that there is an opportunity for the game to be improved.
When it comes to gameplay, ComicBook.com claimed that Overwatch 2 is easily the most enjoyable iteration of the franchise yet. Blizzard has been attentively listening to the community since the game's launch did not go very well. The possibility of more updates and fine-tuning seems to be their top priority as of now.
"It will be interesting to see where things are after a year. That's the blessing and the curse of a live-service game," said the statement.
