Rivian hasn't expanded its R1T electric pickup deliveries outside of the US yet, but some are already in Africa. Four Rivian R1T electric pickup trucks were delivered in Kenya. The reason behind this is for their project "Forever."
Project 'Forever'
The automaker contributes one percent of its equity to its project Forever, which aims to address the planet's climate crisis and preserve biodiversity to help with the planet's survival for the long term.
The deliveries of R1T electric pickup trucks to Africa are part of the initiative in partnership with the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust (MWCT). This is part of MWCT's pilot project with the electric auto market to protect the planet.
The four Rivian R1Ts are currently operating in the Chyulu hills in Kenya for conservation work, including zero tailpipe-emissions transport for Maasai firefighters and crucial on-and off-road rangers' operations.
MWCT will also add R1S electric SUVs to the fleet and Rivian will help manage it with charging infrastructure, and a solar array.

The R1Ts Electric Pickup Trucks
The R1t is the first electric pickup truck on the market and the first mass-produced vehicle with four separate motors. Each motor can make over 200 horsepower to ensure all four motors can draw maximum power from its battery all at the same time. For this reason, it has earned an 835 horsepower rating with a 908 lb-ft torque on tap.
It can do torque-vectoring, which makes it run like a true supertruck. It puts power to the wheel with the most traction in real-time. With this, it helps the truck off-road and power through a corner by pushing with its outside wheels.
It also has great towing ability with its air suspension with hydraulic dampers. The truck offers 6.5 inches of height adjustment with fully-effective dampers at every height. Furthermore, its suspension allows it to auto-level its load and adjust in real-time.
Electric Trucks Today
Electric trucks are probably the best way to reduce our carbon footprint, especially since they'll be used by commercial industries. These industries, such as mining and construction, are major contributors to our planet's carbon footprint. So, it's probably a very good idea that Rivian started with the truck market.
Moreover, trucks have long battery life and if Rivian can supply trucks for commercial businesses that need to be on the roads all day, then that could lead to less fossil fuel consumption, which is good for the environment. If a business is able to save money on gas and diesel, then they could hire more people and work more efficiently, which could be a win-win for everyone.
