Airspeeder, Nascent's eVTOL, has completed the "world's first electric flying car race" during the inaugaral EXA series event, according to Electrek. Two EXA team pilots competed in South Australia using remotely operated eVTOLs that kicked off the development league that will feed into the global Grand Prix series.
The Airspeeder
The Airspeeder is an eVTOL racing league in London, an entity of Alauda Aeronautics. It first completed its first remote-piloted eVTOL drag race in 2021, which marks its first big step in building a competitive league that will have multiple teams competing worldwide.
The races will comprise Airspeeder's flagship EXA Series, later turning into a series of Grand Prix in various countries. Pilots have undergone 270 test flights and hours of simulator races to prepare for the initial flying car race.
Zephatali Walsh is the Winner of the World's First Electric Flying Car Race
Airspeeder pilot Zephatiali Walsh was given full license to race their 4.1 meter-long eVTOLs blade-to-blade around a digital sky-track circuit that is 1 km long. The upcoming remotely-piloted EXA races will soon feature more competitors, such as Bruno Senna, a former F1, and Formula E star.
Additionally, the growing number of pilots in the EXA series will pave the way towards developing a feeder program for the Grand Prix series in 2024 that will feature human pilots racing from within the Speeders instead of from the ground.
eVTOLS for the Future
eVTOLs are expected to make their way into the aviation industry. The technology is still in its early stages, but it is slowly becoming a reality as more companies and startups compete in the field. It has a big vision of bringing flying car capabilities to the masses. The development of the eVTOL market is rapidly progressing as more companies enter the market.
As of now, the eVTOL market is dominated by personal flight devices. The eVTOL industry is projected to have a big future as the market is expected to have a big demand. It is expected that there will be a big change in the transportation industry in 2024 when the eVTOL industry becomes mainstream.
Nascent is an international group that aims to make the world a better place. It hopes to bring eVTOLs to the masses and believes that it is a disruptive technology of the 21st century. Nascent is looking forward to creating a clean, green environment, and the group aims to make the world a better place, starting with the air. The innovative company hails from the United Kingdom.
