A big thanks to whoever edited the M3gan trailer for sharing footage of some choreography that the robot Renesmee did with us. Her dance moves may now be used in memes.
Background
According to Forbes, this is the same trailer Universal showed for the attendees at CinemaCon in April in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The strange pre-teen girl doll who is killing left and right to defend her human charge is supposed to attract lots of social media admiration. Forbes described it as a combination of three masterpieces - Child's Play, Ron's Gone Wrong, and Orphan with at least some of the go-for-broke madness of Malignant.
Gerard Johnstone directed the movie. It was written by Akela Cooper and produced by James Wan, both of whom contributed to the plot. Since Jason Blum is also a producer on this project, you may think of it as a sort of schlocky early-year horror version of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
On January 13, next year, horror movie buffs will be able to see this film in theaters. Apparently, this is the first new big movie coming in 2023.
Movie Synopsis
Even if Vulture feels that the greatest statement to explain the movie is "creepy robot Renesmee must do [an] acrobatic dance before murdering her creators," there ought to be a better way to define the plot line for those who like watching horror films.
After the death of her parent, eight-year-old Cady, played by Violet McGraw, relocates to live with her aunt Gemma, played by Get Out's Allison Williams.
Gemma comes up with the brilliant plan to use M3gan, a Model Three Generative Android whose appearance is similar to that of Bella Swan's firstborn child, in order to prevent Cady from experiencing feelings of loneliness or sadness. Later on, the mechanical doll takes her role as guardian much too seriously.
She begins questioning Gemma's judgment, but she quickly spirals into a more violent kind of companionship. From disobeying commands to turn herself off and assaulting Cady's peers to blowing things up and slicing people open, it's clear that the bot will stop at nothing when she perceives a threat to her safety.
This involves engaging in the customary dance move of the jig before launching an attack on her creators inside the premises of their own workplace.
More AI/Bot Movies
There have been other films released in cinemas before M3gan that include robots or artificial intelligence (AI) as a significant component of the primary cast.
Who could forget about everyone's all-time favorite film series, The Matrix, and Terminator? In addition to these older movies, we may now see more contemporary films on artificial intelligence and robots in various genres, such as I, Robot, Finch, Ex Machina, Chappie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Alita: Battle Angel, I Am Mother, Archive, Mother/Android, and Outside the Wire.
