Legendary Back to the Future stars Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox reunited for a panel discussion at New York Comic Con on Saturday, Oct. 8. Fans of the renowned sci-fi franchise, released between 1985 and 1990, have been beyond themselves with excitement, The Straits Times reported.
The New York Comic Con 2022 served as an opportunity for the two actors to come back in touch, talk about their time together while filming, and share stories and memories.
Their last public appearance was in August 2021 at Awesome Con for a panel and autograph signing session in Washington, D.C.
Back in The Days
During the panel discussion that the actors had at the comic con, Fox described working alongside Lloyd on the Back to the Future movie as "a thrill" for him and that he knew it was going to be a good day to film scenes.
On the other hand, Lloyd stated that their excellent chemistry turned out to be the glue that kept the franchise together.
Fox was actually cast six weeks after the main filming had begun on the first movie, replacing another actor, Eric Stoltz.
A Mini Get-Together
Lloyd took to Instagram to express his appreciation to the avid fans who have continued to show their support for the franchise nearly forty years after it was first released.
On Monday, he uploaded photographs to social media with captions that said, "I cherish these moments." The images show him and Fox delivering remarks at a panel.
Another video of the two of them hugging one other during the session was also shared widely on social media over the weekend. Some viewers of the clip said it made them cry, while others referred to it as a "beautiful" moment.
Fox's Take on Parkinson's Disease
Although Fox's acting career has been disrupted due to the worsening symptoms of Parkinson's disease, which he was first diagnosed with in 1991, both legendary actors have continued to make small appearances in film and television in recent years.
During the panel discussion that the actors had, Fox brought up his diagnosis. "Parkinson's is a gift," was his remark.
According to Fox, people would say he is nuts for saying such a thing, but he pointed out that it is "the gift that keeps on taking."
He said he would not change it for anything, explaining, "It is not about what I have, but rather what has been given to me that matters."
The Duo's Iconic Role in the Movie
In the movies, Lloyd played the role of Emmett "Doc" Brown, while Fox portrayed Marty McFly.
Doc is a wacky scientist who modifies a sports car into a time-traveling machine. McFly is a hapless youngster who manages to travel backward and forwards in time.
Lloyd is now 83 years old, while Fox is 61. Both actors are still active in the film industry.
