BMW released its plug-in and all-electric car sales figures for the third quarter of 2022, wherein the German automaker achieved a new record.
Both the battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles of BMW saw a rise in overall sales in the previous quarter.
BMW Plug-In Car Sales in the Third Quarter of 2022
As per the latest report by Inside EVs, the renowned automaker, BMW, revealed that its electric vehicle and hybrid plug-in sales in the third quarter of the year saw slight increases compared to the same period last year.
It is worth noting that BMW has entered the emerging world of the plug-in vehicle market as it transitions away from gas-powered vehicles.
And now, the giant carmaker reports that it has sold thousands of plug-in hybrid cars in the previous quarter of the year. Inside EVs reported that the German firm delivered more than 10,000 plug-in vehicles in the third quarter.
To put it in perspective, the plug-in car sales of BMW helped the overall car sales of the carmaker for the previous quarter. The plug-in vehicles take roughly 12.7 percent of the total sales of the giant automaker in the United States.
In total, BMW has sold 10,858 plug-in vehicles in the US for the third quarter of 2022. It is worth noting that it includes over 4,300 battery electric vehicles or BEVs.
BMW Overall Car Sales
According to the recent news story by Teslarati, the car manufacturer sold roughly 78,031 vehicles, including electric and fuel-powered ones, in the previous quarter.
Teslarati notes it is a slight surge from its sales performance in 2021, wherein it shipped around 75,619 cars in the third quarter of last year.
The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BMW in North America, Sebastian Mackensen, highlights that there has always been a demand and clamor for its EVs.
The big boss of BMW North America touts that "the customer demand and enthusiasm for BMW's electric vehicles have been there from the start."
He further expects the demand for these electric cars to shoot up in the next quarter. The CEO adds that it would be possible "with the support of dealer partners."

BMW's First-Ever All-Electric Sedan
Teslarati reports that BMW is looking to boost its BEV offerings in the last quarter of the year. The renowned automaker is set to start the deliveries of its first-ever all-electric sedan, the BMW i7. It will start hitting the roads this November.
With this, the car manufacturer is looking to greatly increase its plug-in car sales in the fourth quarter.
