Love it or hate it, everyone knows about E.L. James' novel Fifty Shades of Grey. We also know that there's a film adaptation of it coming out next month. Until recently, that left one burning question: will the movie feature the infamous tampon scene?
Unfortunately, we found out that the answer is no, at least according to film director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
"It didn't make it into the movie," says Taylor-Johnson. "It was never even discussed."
Fortunately for us, one Fifty Shades fan got creative with CG and released this video, which features the oft-talked about scene. Please note that the following video is not safe for work or children.
For those not in the know, Fifty Shades of Grey is a novel with a lot of sex. The story centers on two characters, Ana and Christian, and they don't really do much of anything but have sex. In one particular scene, Christian removes Ana's tampon before sex, making it the most talked about scene in the book, and possibly the one scene that nearly everyone has actually read.
The novel, which started out as Twilight fan fiction, has been gloriously mocked since its release, and panned by both book reviewers and critics alike (we particularly like this review on GoodReads), including this rendition of the book read aloud by Gilbert Godfried (again, this one isn't safe for work or kids and, well, probably anyone).
Most critics and readers pan the book as a highly inaccurate (and poorly written) depiction of BDSM lifestyles and accuses it of glorifying a physically and emotionally abusive relationship.
With that being said, though, the book has sold over 100 million copies.
