A mass poisoning affected some Mexican students in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas.
Since the incident is quite serious, local authorities were alarmed.
An unidentified substance reportedly poisoned 57 students in a rural secondary school. On Friday, Oct. 7, a third poisoning incident happened at Chiapas schools.
Because of this, parents were outraged. On the other hand, the mass poisoning scared many students.
Reuters reported that the Mexican Social Security Institute confirmed that students brought to a local hospital all showed poisoning symptoms.
Mysterious Mass Poisoning Affects Mexican Students
According to The Straits Times' latest report, authorities did not comment on the possible cause of the mass poisoning.

However, some parents speculated that their students drank and ate contaminated water and food.
"We are outraged by these events," said leaders of the Bochil rural community.
They added that they had already collaborated with a state prosecutor's investigation.
On the other hand, videos of mass poisoning are now circulating on the internet. Based on the viral videos, the scenes are very chaotic.

What to Do When Poisoned?
Mayo Clinic explained that poisoning happens when an individual inhales, touches, or swallows drugs, chemicals, gases, and other harmful substances.
This also occurs when a person is injected with a harmful substance. Once you are poisoned, you may experience the following symptoms:
- Burns or redness around the mouth and lips
- Vomiting
- Difficulty breathing
- Breath that smells like chemicals, such as gasoline or paint thinner
- Drowsiness
Confusion or another altered mental status
- If ever you experience the following symptoms, the best things you can do are the following:
- Call 911 if the victim is already experiencing seizures, drowsiness, and trouble breathing.
- Call 800-1222 if there's a suspected poisoning.
- Remove any contaminated clothing using gloves.
- Begin CPR if the person shows no signs of life, such as moving, breathing, or coughing.
- Gently flush the eye with cool or lukewarm water for 20 minutes or until help arrives.
- Remove anything remaining in the person's mouth.
