Nissan is not yet retiring the Leaf electric vehicle, and the company has more plans for its budget-friendly EV that is a global staple series of the Japanese automaker's offers. There were rumors that the Nissan Leaf is soon bidding farewell from its public availability, and there are those who claim that this EV is seeing a possible transformation into an SUV.
Nevertheless, the Leaf is staying for good, with a continued upgrade to the car from its latest refresh.
Nissan Leaf is Not Going Anywhere, and Here to Stay
CNET reported that Nissan's latest showcase earlier this week addressed the Leaf's future among the company's lineup that will center on the EV. Aditya Jairaj, Nissan's director of EV marketing and sales strategy, confirmed that the Leaf is "here to stay," and will continue to offer what it brings to the table for all.
There were many reports regarding Nissan retiring the Leaf variant in the market, but leaks also claimed that the new Leaf will get a new larger body, soon as an SUV.
Now, the Nissan Leaf's 2022 refresh features the same hatchback design it had since the beginning of its release, only adopting cosmetic changes for its new looks.
Nissan Leaf: A Decade of Releases since 2009
Nissan celebrated the Leaf's significance in the world since the company debuted it in 2009, and the present, electric vehicle is already twelve years old. Despite its years of availability in the market, Nissan is not yet retiring the Leaf to prioritize other EVs and releases from its manufacturing and development of new motor vehicles for the future.
Nissan and its Electric Vehicles
Reports earlier this year put the Nissan Leaf in troubled waters, as there were reports that Nissan is already looking into the phase-out of its Leaf series, soon to be no longer available to the public. The claims garnered a mixed response from the public and some were expecting a new EV from the Japanese automaker to arrive soon.
However, reports now are countering the initial claims and the Leaf is here to stay. Still, it faces massive questions as to what the future holds for the electric vehicle.
The Leaf electric vehicles also saw a decline in the country, particularly with the Japanese automaker's delivery in the early quarters of the year. It also saw a decline in purchases and people interested in the electric car, particularly as many competitors in the market bring budget EVs including the Chevrolet Bolt EV, Tesla Model Y, and more.
It is not yet the end of the line for the Nissan Leaf, and it aims to deliver more of the variant's offers to the world, presenting them with what the Leaf stands for since its release in 2009. The world is yet to see the changes for the Leaf in the coming years, with an expected new release soon from Nissan, and possibly a Leaf SUV.
