Google Pixel 7 Might Feature MicroSD Support, Manual Image Leak Suggests

Google's upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are reportedly featuring MicroSD card storage expansion, an alleged manual image leak says.

Google Pixel 7 MicroSD Support

While other giant phone makers, such as Samsung and Apple, have ditched the microSD slot on its flagship devices, Google appears to be going against the tide.

As per the latest report by Notebook Check, the search engine giant is set to introduce its new set of smartphones, the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro in October.

But days ahead of its release, a couple of leaks have already given us a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming Pixel lineup.

Some of the early leaks have already proven themselves to be accurate as Google slowly teases its new smartphone offering.

This time, a still unconfirmed leak highly suggests that the new Pixel is allowing its users to expand their storage via a microSD card.

The alleged images of the Pixel 7 manual show that the upcoming smartphone comes with a physical card reader. It means that users could simply insert a microSD card on the device to expand its storage beyond its built-in internal memory.

The leaked manual discloses that the Google phone comes with a "microSD tray," which could be found on the left side of the smartphone.

According to a report by GizmoChina, the schematics seen on the manual image further suggests that Google is keeping its physical sim card slot. It is to note that the iPhone maker began including an eSIM option for its smartphones.

Gizmodo went on to add that all Pixel phones have never actually offered any storage expansion option. But if the leak is to be taken at face value, it looks like Google is about to change that.

However, do take this latest leak with a grain of salt. The tech giant has yet to confirm whether the Pixel 7 series is going to feature a microSD slot.

Pixel 7 Manual Image Leak: What to Expect

Apart from the microSD card slot, the leaked manual also corroborated previous reports for the upcoming Pixel 7.

For instance, the leak suggests that the new Pixel comes with a 50-megapixel (MP) primary camera and a 12-MP ultra-wide sensor. Meanwhile, the alleged manual image notes that the next-gen Google device sports an 8 MP selfie or front-facing shooter.

Other than the camera resolutions and the surprising card slot, the rest are typical smartphone stuff. It includes the USB-C port at the bottom and the speakers below and on top of the device.
