The Try Guys posted a video today on YouTube announcing the departure of one of its team members, Ned Fulmer, as of September 16.
In the video, the three remaining members - Eugene Lee Yang, Zach Kornfeld, and Keith Habersberger - sat down to discuss the main reason why they had to let go of Fulmer.
Fulmer, whose reputation inside the group centered on his devotion to his wife and children, was having an affair with a fellow employee.
The trio expressed their sadness and anger as the issue involved cheating - according to them - contradictes the values of the company they built and those of everyone who works with them.
The Cheating Scandal
Fulmer is married to "TryWife" Ariel Fulmer. The two started a podcast titled "Baby Steps and The Date Night Cookbook," which became a means for them to build a brand on their marriage.
However, Fulmer and another employee were seen together in public on Labor Day weekend, engaging in romantic behavior. Multiple fans notified the company of the situation they witnessed.
The management conducted investigations as they reached out to both involved individuals. The review led to the verification of the scandal.
Though there was no specific timeline, Fulmer admitted to the team that it had been going on for some time.
Habersberger, on the other hand, pointed out that they had no idea this was going in and that they were just as shocked as the viewers were because of the news.
What Happened and What Will Change
The workforce investigation took three weeks, including several consultations with relevant departments, such as lawyers, HR, and public relations professionals. This was to ensure they were taking all the necessary steps regarding the issue.
Yang said, "This is something we took very seriously. We refused to sweep things under the rug." He added that Fulmer's behavior does not reflect who they are and it does not what they stand for.
They also announced that Fulmer would be digitally removed from all previously recorded videos due to an internal investigation.
"There are several videos that we have deemed as fully unreleasable. You will never see them, and that is due to his involvement," Kornfeld stated, explaining that it is the decision that The Try Guys stand by proudly.
Meet The Try Guys as a Quartet
The Try Guys were initially making videos for Buzzfeed in early 2010. Eventually, the group decided to debut and operate as an independent entertainment firm under the 2nd Try LLC, which started in 2018.
The group is recognized for testing a variety of activities. Some of these were shaving their legs, reviewing online products dedicated to women, as well as creating and doing things without instructions.
Following the success of the quartet, their company has grown to more than 20 workers. They also appeared on several network shows and even published a book titled "The Hidden Power of F*cking Up."
Their YouTube channel has eleven spinoff shows as of October 2022.
