Microsoft Windows 11 Officially Adds Android App Support to 21 Countries: Android Apps Now Installable Through APK Format

Windows 11 is officially adding support for Android apps to 21 countries. Now, more people will be able to install Android apps through the APK format.

Microsoft is Expanding Android Apps on Windows 11 to 21 More Countries

The merge between computer and Android apps is now getting wider and wider as users no longer need an emulator just to run mobile apps on their desktop or laptop. With the new changes to Windows 11 for 21 more countries, users will be able to use mobile apps freely on their computers.

According to the story by Tech Worm, Microsoft is officially adding support for Android apps on Windows 11 to a wider range of users. This means that users in 21 more countries will be able to use Android apps on their computers via the latest Microsoft operating system.

How the Android Apps Run on the Microsoft Windows' Latest Operating System

For those that want to use Android apps on their Windows device, all that needs to be done is to download and install the updated WSA or Windows Subsystem for Android. This can be sourced through the Windows Update.

Once this has been downloaded and installed, users will then find Android app support enabled. This would allow users to use not just games but also other Android apps on their computers to make things more convenient.

Update Comes as Part of a Series of Other Features for the Windows 11

A blog by Windows introduced Android Apps on Windows 11 back in October which shares how users will finally be able to experience using those types of mobile apps on their desktop or laptop as long as they have Windows 11.

The announcement of this feature can be seen in a February article by The Verge where Microsoft shared different changes to its Windows 11. The changes were reportedly part of an update and came with other UX/UI changes as well.

It is important to note that Tech Worm has provided a list of requirements in order for WSA to work on Windows 11. Users will have to have at least the minimum requirements in order for them to be able to run Android apps on their computers.

Android App Requirements for Windows 11

  • 8GB of RAM (the article recommends that users have 16GB)

  • SSD memory (not HDD)

  • AMD Ryzen 3000 or Intel core i3 Gen or more advanced models

  • Virtual Machine Platform setting should be enabled

Before the major update, the WSA for Windows was only limited to users within either the United States or in Japan. Now, other countries will also be able to use the feature as well.
