According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Studios has confirmed the cast for the upcoming "Planet of the Apes" film, now titled "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes." The recently revealed cast members Freya Allen and Peter Macon will join Owen Teague in the Wes Ball-directed movie. It is planned for release in 2024.
'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' to Start Production Soon
The final installment of the sci-fi series, The "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," was released in 2017. Audiences will now be reassured of a new film about the ape-led revolution following "War for the Planet of the Apes." You might recall that Andy Serkis played Caesar in the film, and Matt Reeves directed the final two films to rave reviews and awards.
With "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" set to take place several years after the end of Matt Reeves' 2017 film, 20th Century Studios has made it clear that it intends to give the science fiction epic a new twist. The movie is expected to start filming next month, Gizmodo reports.
According to IGN, Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are the film's executive producers, with Joe Hartwick Jr., Jaffa, Silver, and Jason Reed producing. The script will be written by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison.
"With Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, we are privileged to continue the series' tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema, and we can't wait to share Wes' extraordinary vision for this new chapter with audiences in 2024," 20th Century Studios President Steve Asbell said in a statement.

The specifics of how people will be able to watch "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" are unclear, according to The Verge. While the studio's franchise films, including the Predator spinoff Prey, have been directly released on Hulu, 20th Century says the film will be released in 2024 but does not really specify a theatrical release.
Furthermore, with its eye-catching visuals and a strong emphasis on more general themes like race and animal rights, "Planet Of The Apes" made its mark on cinema. Over the years, the movie has enjoyed huge success, earning more than $1.7 billion worldwide, according to Collider. A precise release date for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" has not yet been announced.
