AirPods Pro 2 Randomly Disconnects From Connected Devices When Users Play Song or Watch a Clip

AirPods Pro 2 just came out last Friday, Sept. 23, yet some people are reportedly encountering a new issue when using it. Some users said that when they play music or watch a video, the pair of earbuds suddenly disconnects from their iPhones or iPads.

As MacRumors spotted on its forum on Sunday, Sept. 25, some people have been ranting about the early problems they experience when using the next-gen wearable.

In some cases, random disconnection takes place when all the users do is access the music or a clip. Some people have concerns about the audio of their devices. Although it shows that an iPad or iPhone is connected to the AirPods Pro 2, they could not hear any sound coming from them.

As of writing, Apple has not yet issued a certain fix regarding this bug. The cause of the problem remains undetected and reports claim that this buggy experience is an isolated case.

"Mine keeps disconnecting from my iPhone randomly throughout the day. Also sometimes it shows that they're connected but sound doesn't come through so I'll have to reconnect them. Hope this is just a software issue," one user complained.

It should be noted that so far, the issues are only limited to the newly-launched AirPods Pro 2. However, the problem is not new anymore to some users who also purchased the first edition of the earbuds.

Back in 2019, some users reported experiencing the same issue with the current second-gen wearables. Throughout the years, they keep asking the Cupertino giant to address this bug. However, their concerns are fairly addressed by the company.

Updating the Latest Firmware For AirPods Pro 2

In a similar report by MacRumors, some users who have been annoyed by the random disconnection issue of Apple AirPods Pro 2 should regularly update their devices and earbuds firmware to the latest version.

For AirPods Pro 2 users, check if your current firmware is 5A377. Monitor the updates that come to your device and don't miss any available updates in the future.

A‏irPods Pro Service Program

Apple stated on its support page that affected AirPods Pro users are covered by the AirPods Pro Service Program.

The tech titan indicated that if the active noise cancellation feature of your earbuds does not work, you are eligible for this program. The same thing goes if you start hearing static sounds when talking on the phone.

But first, there's a need to seek an authorized service provider from Apple. This person or team will evaluate your eligibility for the program. Your malfunctioning earbud will be replaced accordingly.

Meanwhile, AirPods Pro 2 ear tips are reportedly incompatible with the original AirPods Pro. The mesh design is only intended for the 2nd-gen wearables.
