[UPDATE] Rockstar Games Is 'Extremely Disappointed' After Grand Theft Auto VI Leak

Rockstar Games is not happy about the leak.

Following a leak of the sixth installment of the popular video game series Grand Theft Auto, the franchise's creators have expressed their disappointment.

The series' publisher, Rockstar Games, acknowledged the leak on Monday and said it is "extremely disappointed" over the premature and illegal release of the upcoming game.

3GB Worth of Illegally Downloaded Footage

A hacker illegally downloaded and leaked more than 3GB worth of footage, which is tantamount to around 90 videos, from the highly anticipated "Grand Theft Auto VI," as per STV News.

A person going by the handle "Teapotuberhacker" posted a video of the GTA 6 gameplay to a gaming site, and it quickly spread across TikTok, Reddit, YouTube, Twitter, and other social media platforms.

Rockstar Games posted a statement saying they suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally downloaded private information from the company's systems.

The downloaded information contained early development videos of the upcoming installment of GTA.

The game developer also stated that no interruption of real-time games or long-term effects on the progress of existing initiatives were anticipated as a result of the breach.

"We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players that truly exceeds your expectations."

Rockstar Games assured its fans that once the new game is ready, it will properly introduce the game soon.

New Playable Character?

A new playable character named Lucia, who has been seen robbing stores and kidnapping people, is featured in one of the leaked videos. The now-deleted video contained a lot of placeholder texts, indicating that the leaked material was still unfinished.

The leaks also revealed the Vice City Metro train. According to past reports, the new GTA 6 will be set in Miami like the GTA: Vice City in 2022. The clips were run by RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3080 cards and showed NPC interactions and improved UI and animations.

Rockstar Games will reportedly prohibit Twitch users who mention or discuss Grand Theft Auto 6 on the site, according to a Unilad article from last month. The blocking was done by redacting the streamers by saying the name of the game.
