According to News 19's report, an unfortunate incident involving a 2021 Tesla occurred on Salem Church Road at around 2:10 AM, and the electric vehicle crashed into a tree which is outside the road. After the crash, the EV caught fire and resulted in the death of the driver and front seat passenger, who did not survive the incident.

State troopers and the South Carolina Highway Patrol pronounced the victims died on the scene after the fatal crash with the electric vehicle.

This case is one of the many crashes involving a Tesla EV, with many seeing this as a massive hindrance to buying the vehicle as it questions the safety and reliability of the company's technology.

Passengers Dead on the Scene

The passengers were pronounced dead on the scene, and the SCHP is now investigating the cause of the accident to determine if it was a human error or something which the electric vehicle caused. The South Carolina Department of Public Safety's data said that there were at least 46 fatalities from crashes in 2022 in Richland County and 701 dead on South Carolina roads due to accidents.

The Highway Patrol is also investigating if the passengers were wearing their seatbelts at the time.

Tesla Crashes and Accidents

Tesla promises a safe drive for all, and the electric vehicles center on safety and security for all users with its autonomous driving systems, as well as the safety measures in place for the passengers. One video uploaded via YouTube showed how a Tesla helped to avoid getting rear-ended by a speeding car unaware of the traffic ahead.

However, there are also other crashes that Tesla EVs were unable to avoid, and it resulted in the deaths of two teenagers in Florida who were driving their Model S at the time.

Investigations aim to see which is the real perpetrator in the accidents involving a Tesla vehicle, and it aims to address these problems for the company for them to improve.

While some users praise Tesla's safety features and want to buy another EV from the company after the incident, some get trauma from their experience, especially survivors involved in these accidents.

The fatal crash in Richland County is under investigation by authorities if who is really at fault in this accident, especially as the passengers met their fate after the fiery crash involving the electric vehicles. The South Carolina Highway Patrol leads the investigation and will bring additional details as evidence comes to light.
