Fans have started to express their sentiments regarding Valve's progression of the Battle Pass to "Dota 2." The company is now changing how the Battle Pass works.
Fans are Complaining Regarding Valve's Direction with the Battle Pass
According to the story by Clutch Points, when Valve initially released the Battle Pass for The International, they started to receive backlash from fans for different reasons. The article noted that a lot of people claimed that the "Dota 2" Battle Pass has started to become underwhelming compared to what it was.
The claims note that the rewards do not do justice to the amount of time that players spend in order to achieve them. There were those that also complained about how the battle pass progression became very grindy and slow.
Players reportedly complained that they would only get very few rewards compared to the time that they spend playing to get them. Finally, Valve has decided to address this issue and announced that they are reworking how Battle Pass Points can be earned.
As per Valve, they will be fixing the issue through two changes in both the weekly bonus feature and the weekly quest update.
Battle Pass New Changes
Weekly Bonus Feature: 200 Battle Points will be given to players upon a win and 100 Battle Points will be given even if they lose for up to 2,000 Battle Points a week. Valve will also be halving the rewards that turbo games provide.
Weekly Quest Update: Rewards are re-scaled during non Bonus weeks from 500/1000/1500 at 4/9/15 Stars and increased to a consistent 1000/1000/1000 at 2/8/15 Stars. When it comes to Bonus weeks, the Battle Chest drops from being available on 3 Stars to just 2 Stars.

Pros and Cons of the Battle Pass
The Battle Pass has been a way that different games consistently monetize their players. Through a subscription, players usually get access to special items that involve modifications and customizations.
The negative thing about Battle Pass, however, is that some gamers argue that this transforms a game into a "pay to win" model since the rewards could sometimes give players an unfair advantage. For years, "Dota 2" has been relying on its quality gameplay, consistent fanbase, and overall experience to make money.
There are, however, some advantages to the Battle Pass as it keeps the game evolving over time. Since "Dota 2" has been a game in existence for quite a long time, fans have been looking for something to keep the game fresh.
While the Battle Pass has already launched and there is nothing gamers can do about it, players are starting to complain regarding the direction of the offering. Some players even regarded the Battle Pass as offering unexciting rewards.
Since players are spending for rewards, the complaint circulates around how Valve is no longer offering them that many rewards and how Battle Pass Points can take a lot of time but don't really give good rewards.
