NASA announced that it wants to make space more accessible to people, centering on future missions that will take civilian astronauts for two launches open to accept proposals. It is a remarkable effort of the space agency now, especially as it opens up a new experience for those wanting to experience the journey themselves.

The agency is now seeking proposals for two private space missions to take place by 2023 and 2024, awaiting different companies to bring forth their plans for a future flight towards the low-Earth orbit (LEO).

According to its release, it will allow two private space missions to take place per year, a flight accredited by NASA.

It will involve a "U.S. commercial spacecraft transporting private astronauts to the space station."

Civilian Astronauts to Fly with NASA

According to CNET, these new missions by NASA will involve civilian astronauts flying with a NASA astronaut with renowned experiences in the field to lead the said launches. Additionally, the report claimed that these seats have a hefty price of $55 million for a passenger, the alleged fee to join the mission based on previous ventures.

NASA's Commercial Crew

NASA's take on bringing private corporations and civilians to space is under its massive program known as the Commercial Crew, and it employs two renowned space companies under the project. It brings SpaceX to deliver crewmembers and payload to the International Space Station with the Crew Dragon and Falcon 9 to do the mission.

On the other hand, NASA still awaits the Starliner from Boeing for its future missions to undertake missions the low-Earth orbit.

The public's interest's shift to going to space has become massive in the past years, especially with companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic, Axiom, and other names focusing on space tourism for all. There are massive efforts in place which make space travel commercial, with NASA also joining in this availability for all.

Space is not an exclusive region for people to venture to in the present, and there are significant projects which aim to make it more accessible in the future. NASA's expansion of its commercial flights program for civilian astronauts is a massive step toward making space more accessible for all, now targetting the low-Earth orbit for its ventures.
