Xbox gamers will finally be able to run Discord after the feature was initially rumored, then announced, then entered its beta version. Instead of having to open the app through another device while playing, the new feature allows users to run the app from the console itself.
Discord Integration to Xbox One and the Xbox Series X/S has Been Successful
Being able to talk to other players while playing games has always been a major part of online gaming. The problem with in-game talk, however, is that it can be limiting for certain players and sometimes not always that good.
The good news is that Discord will finally be making its way to both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S. Players will now be able to chat with each other within the console in the background while playing other games.
New Integration Allows Players to Connect on More Channels
After the feature initially went through an insider beta test in July, as reported by Engadget, an article by Xbox notes that voice chats on Discord are finally open to gamers that are playing on the Xbox One, the Xbox Series X, and the Xbox Series S consoles.
The new integration will allow users on more channels, namely the Xbox, PC, and mobile, to all join the same voice channels and communicate with each other. According to the story by Yahoo Finance, players only need to follow a few simple steps to get started.
First Step to Using Discord on the Xbox Consoles
In order to use Discord on the Xbox, users will have to first link their Discord and Xbox accounts together. Users that already did this should result in other players being able to see their Gamertag.
If the Gamertag has already previously been visible, players will have to link their accounts again and approve the voice permissions required in order for the integration to work. The steps after this can be a bit complicated, so players should follow them one by one.
Players Will have to Select 'Join on Xbox' on Discord
The new integration doesn't mean that players will no longer need a PC or mobile phone to start calls. Instead, players will have to start or join calls on Discord via PC or their mobile device and then transfer the call to the Xbox.
Once players have linked their accounts, they will be able to see a new "join on Xbox" button pop up on Discord. Selecting this button will allow players to begin the process.

Discord is Expected to Improve the Process Later on as Its Partnership with Microsoft Continues
After clicking the button, the Xbox app will reportedly show on the user's phone and ask them what console they would want to use to chat. After selecting Xbox, players will be able to implement the feature and chat on their preferred console.
As per Discord, they are looking forward to continuing their partnership with Microsoft in order to create better experiences. This means the process could be improved later on.
