Apple's iPhone hardware subscription service is reportedly on its way this year following the debut of the all-new iPhone 14 lineup.
But does this mean that the rumored monthly service is getting the shimmer of the spotlight during the upcoming Apple October event?
iPhone Subscription
While Apple has introduced its four new iPhones, including the standard 14 and 14 Plus, as well as the high-end offerings, the Pro and Pro Max, the Far Out Event missed out on a long-time iPhone rumor, the hardware monthly subscription service.
But despite that, as per the latest report by 9to5 Mac, it appears that the Cupertino-based tech giant is still working on its rumored hardware subscription service.
In fact, Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, states in his latest Power On newsletter that the iPhone maker is gearing up for its debut, which is still on track to be this year.
Gurman, who reliably reveals insider information on all sorts of Apple stuff, goes on to disclose that Apple is actually "actively testing this new service."
The Bloomberg journalist also adds that the renowned phone maker is "indeed still working on a hardware subscription service."
And besides saying that Apple is working on it, Gurman also discloses some information on how the rumored hardware subscription service works.
He notes that the new subscription service is unlike the current installment programs we see from various retailers these days.
And as such, the service would not ask its subscribers to pay the monthly fee based on its price divided by 12 months or up to 48 months.
Instead, Gurman believes that Apple would introduce a monthly fee that varies on the device included in the service.
What further sets it apart from installment options is that subscribers could go on to upgrade to newer devices as the renowned tech giant debuts them.
So if Apple introduces the new iPhone, subscription service users could simply swap their current smartphones to the latest version with ease.
Is it Debuting at Apple's October Event 2022?
Even if Apple seemingly left out its rumored hardware subscription service during its "Far Out event," it looks like the October Event would finally introduce it.
Gurman straight out predicted that the new subscription service is launching later this year. But its release could also be pushed to early next year.
According to a recent report by Apple Insider, the new subscription service could potentially see the light of day this October event, which is also expected to introduce more Apple products like the iPad Pro and Mac.
