"Stalker 2" Xbox pre-orders have been refunded all of a sudden. And as such, its holder could not help but panic and assume that it has been canceled or is seeing longer delays.
However, the developer of "Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl," GSC Game World, dispels these claims as it explains the entire situation to everyone else.
'Stalker 2' Xbox Pre-Orders Refunded
The Xbox console maker, Microsoft, went on to cancel the pre-orders of "Stalker 2" customers, refunding them what they initially paid for, as per the latest report by Euro Gamer.
The news outlet notes in its report that pre-order holders of the survival horror game have started getting cancellation messages.
Besides the cancellation and refunds for existing holders, it looks like Microsoft has completely disabled the pre-order option on the Xbox Store for the upcoming GSC Game World offering.
'Stalker 2' Delays
Given all these, some customers are worried that the much-anticipated "Stalker 2" might be released on a much later date after its previous delay already.
Euro Gamer further adds that GSC Game World has previously halted the development of "Stalker 2" after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine got more serious.
The "Stalker 2" maker says that they would resume working on the game once they have transferred from Ukraine to Prague.
And with that, the release of the first-shooter horror, which was supposed to be last April, has been moved to much later date. The devs predict that it should be out sometime in 2023.
The spokesperson of GSC Game World confirmed that it has been postponed to next year, but it still has no specific release date.
Devs Denies Further Delays
However, despite the Ukraine-Russia-related delay, the "Stalker 2" maker wants fans of the game to calm down as it denies additional pushback for its release.
In fact, according to a recent report by Kotaku, the developer of the horror title explained what was actually going on and why the pre-orders were canceled in the first place.
And it appears that the cancellation and refunds of pre-orders do not necessarily mean that "Stalker 2" is getting delayed once more.
Instead, the GSC spokesperson states "Microsoft refunds preorders for the games with no exact release date."
So it appears that the unprecedented refunds are only due to the fact that the "Stalker 2" dev has yet to provide any release date.
But GSC assured fans of the game the pre-orders will open once again when they officially announce the release date of the horror shooter game.
What is only certain for now is that "Stalker 2" is debuting sometime in 2023, given that it would no longer get delayed much further.
