Apple Watch Ultra Offers Bigger Display and Brighter Screen, But Can You Watch TV On It?

Apple Watch Ultra offers amazing features, including bigger screen

On Wednesday, Sept. 7, Apple introduced its latest smartwatch called Apple Watch Ultra. The device is meant for adventurers, sports athletes, and those constantly exposed to extreme outdoor conditions.

The Apple Watch Ultra showcases a bigger, brighter 49mm screen, a new hardware button, better speakers, and a longer battery life. But does it also have the ability to let you watch TV or stream your favorite shows?

Apple Watch Ultra Features

According to Andrew Marino of The Verge, the original Apple Watch launched in the market in 2015 drew its inspiration from the Seiko TV Watch.

The Seiko TV Watch was introduced in 1982, and it was the first wristwatch that could receive UHF and VHF channels.

The receiver comes in the form of a huge belt pack that you had to connect to the LCD screen on your wrist manually.

Unfortunately, the idea never caught on, but it inspired many future smartwatches.

The only smartwatch that comes close to quality and connectivity is the Apple Watch, yet there is no functionality available around watching videos on the device.

Marino reported watching videos by viewing clips sent to him through iMessage. He also downloaded a third-party app called WatchTube that lets him watch videos on his Apple Watch. However, the app has bug issues, and it lacks playing features.

With Apple Watch Ultra's screen, spear, and better battery life, video support can be justified.

The upcoming smartwatch also has a customizable action button that would be great for changing channels on a linear TV app like YouTube TV or Pluto TV or rewinding a clip.

The brighter screen would make it easier to watch TV outdoors, the hardware button can play, pause, and fast-forward clips, and the speakers could allow you to watch clips even without the AirPods.

However, even if the technology is present, Apple Watch Ultra still does not have this feature, but that does not mean that it is not possible in the future.

Other Apple Watch Ultra Features to Look Out For

The Apple Watch Ultra is made from aerospace-grade titanium, providing a perfect balance of durability, weight, and corrosion resistance, according to CNBC.

The case has a flat sapphire front crystal that protects the Retina display, and its display is 2x brighter than any other Apple Watch model.

Apple Watch Ultra has an Action button that allows you to easily access features such as Compass Waypoints, Workouts, Backtrack, and more.

The smartwatch has three built-in microphones to improve the sound quality of voice commands and calls, according to iMore.

Apple Watch Ultra also has a precision dual-frequency GPS that integrates both L1 and L5, plus accurate positioning algorithms.

The smartwatch is expected to deliver the most accurate GPS of any Apple Watch, providing users the most precise distance, route data, and pace for training and competing.

The Apple Watch Ultra is now available for preorder, and its shipping will start on Sept. 23.
