According to the story by Engadget, the new service will be coming as welcoming news to those that own a Steam Deck. The addition of repair stores will make it easier for owners to deal with hardware issues without needing to hunt for third-party services.
Company Still Gives Support to Those that Want to Push with DIY Repairs
Valve announced that it will also support owners that don't want to go through the traditional route and would rather pursue DIY. The company points to guides on iFixit to help provide users with what they need for DIY repairs.
Those that want to have their device fixed will be able to "use the new service via the company's support channels." The company explains that if users will encounter an issue and need to send their handheld console for repair or replacement, devices will start going to one of the company's repair centers.
Valve Announced Charges for Fixes that are Out of Warranty
Valve announced that once there, the users' team will help diagnose the device, repair it if needed, then easily ship the fixed unit once repairs are finished. The repair centers will reportedly cover both the fixes that are in warranty, which will be free and repairs for damages despite being outside of the warranty fee.
