Apple AirPods Pro Update: Downgraded to No Longer Supporting Lossless Apple Music?

Apple has Upgraded the AirPods Pro with a New H2 Chip that Promises Improved Audio Quality

According to the story by MacRumors, Apple has designed the new AirPods Pro to include some upgrades. These upgrades include using the new H2 chip that promises improved audio quality.

The downside is that despite the said improvements, the new Apple AirPods Pro will be dropping support for the lossless Apple Music audio. Despite not being included, however, the new Apple earbuds promise other better features.

H2 Chip is the New Successor of the Previous H1 Chip and Includes Active Noise Cancellation and More

The H2 chip is reportedly the successor compared to the previous H1 chip. The new chip is reportedly capable of delivering new features, which include improved Active Noise Cancellation, better Transparency mode, and even an upgraded sound overall.

One capability that was previously considered a rumor said that the new chip would support lossless Apple music. As per the recent press release and tech specs page by Apple, however, do not include any mention of lossless audio support.

AirPods Pro Includes Bluetooth 5.3 Support

Due to the lack of mention regarding lossless audio support for the brand new AirPods Pro, the article by MacRumors states that this "seemingly rules out the capability." The publication notes that they have already tried to reach out to Apple but have yet to receive a response regarding the changes.

The brand new AirPods Pro reportedly includes Bluetooth 5.3 support, and although the standard does not support lossless audio directly, there are other chip companies like Qualcomm that have already been moving in this direction.

Qualcomm's Prediction in the Future In Terms of Audio Technology

An article by Digital Trends shares how Qualcomm's predictions for the future. These include new innovations like lossless hi-res audio, audio sharing, Bluetooth broadcasting, and lower latency to the different products.

The recent moves by Apple, however, do not specifically indicate that Apple has already adopted the changes yet. The new AirPods Pro, however, includes numerous new features with the new device.

Apple AirPods Pro Available for Preorders on September 23

Other improvements involve audio improvements, longer battery life, and even a redesigned charging case. The price of the upcoming AirPods Pro will be at $249 and will officially be available to order starting September 9.

The new AirPods Pro is expected to launch on September 23. An article by The Verge detailed the different changes that buyers might be able to expect from the upcoming Apple earbuds.

The article notes that the previous models are still available and being sold for $179.99 on different websites and online retailers like Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. The Preorder for the upcoming Apple AirPods Pro will start at 8AM ET or 5AM PT on September 9.
