The Tyre Extinguishers, an international climate activist group, claimed that they were able to deflate the tires of more than 600 SUVs.
Members of the organization even said they could do this in just one night.
Authorities stated that the affected vehicles are found across nine countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Netherlands, etc.
"Courageous citizens all over the world last night ... deflated tyres on at least 600 SUVs, exactly two months before the opening of the United Nations Cop27 climate summit in Egypt," said the Tyre Extinguishers via The Guardian.
Tyre Extinguishers Group Allegedly Disarms Hundreds of SUVs!
As of writing, the Tyre Extinguisher group claimed that they deflated tires of more than 9,000 SUVs.
If this is true, then the activist group is not far from its goal, which is to disarm a total of 10,000 SUVs before Christmas.
If you are unfamiliar with this controversial climate change activist organization, the Tyre Extinguishers, formed in July 2021, aims to prevent being from owning SUVs in urban areas.
The National World explained that SUVs and similar vehicles greatly affect the world's environment, creating climate disasters and air pollution.
The Tyre Extinguishers explained that their strategy is very simple. Their main goal is to create inconvenience to SUVs and other vehicle owners by deflating their cars' wheels.
The organization's members added that they are doing this since the U.K. government has already failed to protect people from huge vehicles.
Are SUVs That Harmful to the Environment?
The International Energy Agency published a study in 2019.
In this research, the autonomous inter-governmental organization claimed that SIVs are the second largest cause of the rising carbon dioxide emissions.
If you connect this claim to the main goal of the Tyre Extinguishers, it will make sense. However, the climate activist group is also targeting electric SUVs.
Of course, what they do is still illegal since they are accessing people's properties without permission.
